No. Clinical judgement and real-world experience are what is required. Most tasks involve reading, reasoning, and writing assessing AI outputs, defining reference answers, and quality checking responses.

Is patient data involved?

No identifiable patient data is used.

Is this a job or freelance contract work?

This is contract project work, not employment. Most arrangements are flexible and task-based rather than salaried. You will be contracting directly with Mercor or Micro1, not with this site.

Can I do this alongside NHS or locum work?

In many cases yes subject to your employer's policy on secondary work and any conflicts of interest.

What ACJ does

ACJ is a referral intermediary: we connect professionals, researchers and healthcare specialists to paid AI-training roles on third-party platforms (such as Mercor, Micro1 and Turing), and we publish related guidance. Some of our processing is ordinary website activity; some relates to our referral and outreach work. This notice covers all of it. Our email marketing activity is described in a separate notice.

The personal data we process, why, and our lawful basis

For each purpose below, we set out the lawful basis on which we rely under UK GDPR.

1. Website visitors and enquiries

What: your name, email and any message you send us; technical data such as IP address, browser/user-agent, and page-interaction data; information you submit in forms or comments.
Why: to operate and secure the website, respond to enquiries, provide customer and technical support, and produce aggregated statistics to improve our services.
Lawful basis: legitimate interests (operating and securing our website and responding to you); where you contact us, to take the steps you ask us to take.

2. Referral link tracking

What: when you click an ACJ referral link, we log privacy-safe click data — a truncated IP address, an anonymous visitor identifier, the role/link clicked, and timing. This click data does not by itself identify you by name.
Why: to measure which roles and channels generate interest, protect our links against automated abuse, and ensure referrals are correctly attributed.
Lawful basis: legitimate interests (understanding and protecting our referral activity).

3. Referral progression analytics

What: for people we have referred to a platform, we keep a record over time of the status and progress of that referral (for example: referred, signed up, applied, hired), together with the role, relevant dates, and referral fee, as shown to us on the platform’s own referral dashboard. Where we analyse this using automated tools, we use a pseudonymised form in which your name and contact details are removed and held separately, so those tools do not receive data that identifies you.
Why: to understand and improve how our referrals convert and to compare platform performance. This is internal analytics; it is not used to send you marketing.
Source: this information comes from the referral dashboards of the platforms we refer to (such as Mercor, Micro1 and Turing), where it is shown to us as the referrer — not from you directly. Because we obtain it from a source other than you, we are providing this information to you as required by UK GDPR Article 14.
Lawful basis: legitimate interests (measuring and improving our own referral service). You may object to this processing at any time (see “Your rights”).

4. Researcher and professional outreach

What: where relevant, we compile professional contact details (such as name, institutional email, affiliation and publicly listed professional information) of researchers and professionals from public and institutional sources, to inform them of relevant AI-training opportunities.
Why: to reach professionals who may be interested in this work.
Lawful basis: legitimate interests. Because this data is usually obtained from sources other than you, we provide transparency as required by UK GDPR Article 14, and you may object at any time.

Where your data is stored

Personal data is held:

on servers operated by Hostinger — our website host (shared hosting) and a separate processing server (a virtual private server) we use to run our data pipelines; and
locally on ACJ’s own equipment, principally for development and processing.

These systems are protected by appropriate technical and organisational measures, including firewalls and access controls.

International transfers

Most of our processing takes place in the UK. For some processing — in particular the researcher-outreach pipeline — we use third-party AI and technology providers located outside the UK, including in the United States. We access these providers through their commercial/API services under terms that include a data-processing agreement and appropriate transfer safeguards, principally the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK International Data Transfer Agreement/Addendum where applicable). Where a provider is certified under the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, that may provide an additional basis.

For our referral progression analytics, we do not transfer identifying personal data outside the UK: any external processing uses pseudonymised data from which your identity has been removed.

How long we keep your data

Website enquiries and support: for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and a reasonable period afterwards.
Referral click data: retained in privacy-safe (non-identifying) form for analysis.
Referral progression records: kept while the referral relationship is active and for 24 months afterwards, then deleted or aggregated.
Researcher/professional outreach data: kept for 24 months from last relevant activity, then reviewed and deleted if no longer needed.
Comments: retained as part of standard website operation.

Who we share your data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf (such as our hosting provider and the technology providers described above), each under appropriate contractual terms, and where required by law.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; have it corrected or erased; restrict or object to our processing (including our legitimate-interests processing and any direct marketing); data portability; and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
